November is here! Traditionally, that means three things for us United Methodists, maybe four: Charge Conference, Stewardship, Thanksgiving, and sometimes Advent. That is certainly the case in 2017!
Our yearly Charge Conference happens on November 12, at 3:00 pm at First UMC in Fayette. We will worship with other Methodists of our district and celebrate 2017’s successes. We have to approve a lot of business ahead of time at our Administrative Board meeting this afternoon!
Yes. Stewardship means that “the preacher talks about money.” But, this year, I’m not doing it alone! We are “Celebrating God’s Goodness” as we ask “What is God asking me to give?” Our Stewardship Committee (Roger and Petra Davis, Butch and Barbara Ivie, Jim and Jane Raines, and Nick and Rebecca Smith) will sharing their perspective on God’s goodness at various times in worship. In addition to last week’s bulletin insert, you will also receive more letters. Then, on November 19, Bishop Deborah Wallace-Padgett will preach for us. We will then turn in Estimate of Giving Cards and celebrate with a lunch on that day! Get ready to celebrate!
That evening our community churches will host a Thanksgiving Service. Time and place to be announced.
And … then we decorate for Advent!! Whew!
